Tim Gerry of the Insurance Outlet has been selected as a panelist for Shake the Lake, a Leadership Development Conference to be held at the Margate Resort on Friday, May 6. The half day event, sponsored jointly by the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce and Fusion, is geared toward young professionals and focuses on the critical challenge of workforce development affecting many Lakes Region businesses.
Tim will participate in Navigating a Course, a panel discussion in which three area young professionals will each share their own unique journey and the experiences that led them to choose the Lakes Region for both their professional and private lives. While there is a common concern that professional opportunities are less plentiful in the area than in and around larger cities, these panelists are prime examples of the many who have navigated their own course and successfully overcome those concerns.
Jaime Sousa, former president of Fusion, explains “We invited Tim to be a panelist because we were interested in having someone speak from the perspective of growing up outside of NH and becoming attracted to the area after attending college here”. Originally from Wakefield, MA, Tim attended UNH and chose to stay in NH upon graduating; now residing in Meredith.
Panel members will be asked to speak to the importance of connecting with others through common interests, goals and concerns. Such connections help people form friendships, but also open doors and opportunities. As an avid sports fan, Tim has volunteered as a youth hockey coach for five years. The parents of his players appreciate his dedication to the kids and have come to know him both personally and professionally as a respected member of the community. Tim’s network has grown through this shared interest as well as his participation in other community events, such as Fusion’s annual Bowl-a-Thon Fundraiser which is sponsored by the Insurance Outlet.
