10 Springtime Activities in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region

With the days getting longer, and the Lakes Region coming alive with color, here are ten great activities that our staff likes to enjoy in the Spring months!  

  1. Hiking, mountain biking & climbing. New Hampshire has over 1,894 routes to choose from. Enjoy the classic New England scenic landscapes on the diverse trails.  Check out AllTrails for a great guide to help tailor to your specific hiking needs!  Highland Mountain terrain park in Tilton, NH has a great network of trails and a lift to bring you to the top!
  2. Golfing.  The Lakes Region has a handful of great courses for all abilities.  Bolduc Park in Laconia, NH is a great Par 3 course for beginners or to work on your short game.  Lochmere in Tilton, NH is one of the longest courses in the area, and Waukewan in Meredith, NH is always a fan favorite with challenging greens.  
  3. Loon Center in Moultonborough, NH – Located on the Markus Wildlife Sanctuary.  They offer free admission for nature trails, exhibits, videos and the the Loon’s Feather Gift Shop.
  4. Visit all 54 of the picturesque covered bridges in the Lakes Region, including the River Walk Rail Spur Trail in Belmont, NH.  
  5. Visit Mill Falls for their annual Memorial Day Weekend Craft Fair in Meredith, NH
  6. Laconia Bike Week!  Check out the world’s oldest motorcycle rally each June at Weirs Beach. The 2023 Motorcycle Week will the 100th year running!
  7. Take a cruise around Lake Winnipesaukee on the M/S Mount Washington. Offering a variety of cruises like a narrated tour of the lake, sunset dinner cruises, cocktail cruises and Sunday Brunch you can take your pick!
  8. Visit Canterbury Shaker Village in Canterbury, NH. Learn about the creative and spiritual lives of the Canterbury Shakers in guided tours. Enjoy a picnic on the beautiful grounds.
  9. Check out the spectacular views at Castle in the Clouds in Moultonborough, NH. There are28 miles of trails to choose from including the most beautiful gardens and waterfalls.
  10. Drive a little North and go to the highest peak in the Northeast on The Mount Washington Cog Railway. Over 150 years later, the Cog was the first mountain-climbing cog railway in the world!
